TIME magazine has just announced that Angelina Jolie will grace the cover of their next issue. The actress, who revealed that she had undergone an elective double mastectomy earlier this week, has been a topic of conversation ever since the news broke.
Angelina decided to have the surgery after she found out she had the ‘faulty’ gene BRCA1, which meant that she had an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer and a 50 per cent risk of getting ovarian cancer.
“I was as surprised as anyone and deeply moved by the way she’s handled this. She’s a very extraordinary person, the way she examined it and what she shard,” said John Voight, speaking about his daughter’s bravery.
Earlier today it was revealed that Angelia is now having surgery to reduce her chances of ovarian cancer.
Angelina has said that her decision was fuelled by her family and the fact that she lost her own mother, Marchelie Bertrand, to ovarian cancer back in 2007.
“Jolie’s brave example can make us all smarter and help keep us all healthier – but only if we take the right lesson from it,” said Jeffrey Kluger, the senior editor of TIME magazine.
The Angelina Jolie cover of TIME magazine will be available this Friday, May 17th.
