Honey, Boo, Rainbow: Jools Says Husband Jamie Oliver Told Her To Calm Down Picking Baby Names

The celebrity chef told his wife to calm down as she chose names for their four children.

Celebrities always take it one step too far when it comes to naming their children…

But Jamie Oliver’s wife, Jools, said her decision to call her daughter after a My Little Pony toy is no one else’s business.

The mother-of-four, whose three-year-old girl is called Petal Blossom Rainbow, said she “hated” people giving their opinions about baby’s names.

The celebrity chef’s wife added that her husband had to tell her to “calm down” when choosing the names for their children.

The 37-year-old former model also revealed that she wanted to have more, and that she was “comfortable being a mum”, rather than having a jet-set career.

The Oliver brood is made up of Poppy Honey Rosie, ten, Daisy Boo Pamela, nine, and Buddy Bear Maurice, two, told Gurgle magazine; “They all have more than one name because I couldn’t decide.

“I’m not sure where Petal Blossom Rainbow came from – apparently it’s a My Little Pony! I wanted to call her Rainbow but Jamie told me to calm down.

“With Buddy it was quite fun choosing a boy’s name, as I hadn’t done it before. And I hate people’s opinions on names. Whatever you call your baby is your decision.”

The internet was set alight the night Mrs Oliver named her youngest daughter.

A discussion thread on the topic on the Mumsnet forum received 140 comments, including the opinion that it was “scraping the barrel for cute flowery names” and “bloody awful”.

The chef’s wife said she always wanted to be a mother.

“[I knew] probably from when I was about 15 or 16. I knew I didn’t want a career but wanted to do what my mum did, bring up children.

“I modelled for a while, but it wasn’t really me. I was never comfortable. I’m comfortable being a mum. I never listened to any advice anyone ever gave me so I say, do it your own way.”

Mrs Oliver said she has a “strict” parenting approach.

“Maybe I’m a bit strict and regimented, but when you have four children it’s essential to have routines. I’d like to be a bit more relaxed – perhaps not as relaxed as Jamie, but maybe somewhere in the middle, that would be good.

“I’d like to think I could relax the routine and be a bit more hippie about it all, but I probably wouldn’t be.

“I don’t have nights out too often and I haven’t had a lie-in for about ten years. Sometimes we sit there and say to each other, do you remember when we used to sit and read the papers for an hour?”

“I really would [like more children], but I just don’t know. I’m so busy with four.”

Well, we’ll be waiting in anticipation for that child’s name Jools…
