“I don’t think a long-term happy marriage would be easy for him” – Diane Keaton Wishes She Had Wed Al Pacino

"Relationships are hard. You’re lucky if you find someone."

Diane Keaton may have been romantically linked to every Hollywood A-lister – but she still pegs Al Pacino as the one who got away.

With Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Woody Allen and Sam Shepard on her ex list, the actress has had her pick of men, but regrets that she never married.

Speaking to People magazine, Diane admitted:

“It’s not the worst tragedy. But I really wish I had bought myself a man! A good man who would be a great father, I really do. I think it’s a better way to go. I think I was not practical. I had some insane idea that I had to be ‘in love.’ Now I see what it really takes: real consideration that you’re a good team together.

“I told myself I wanted to, but I didn’t really want a man that I could have. I wanted the dream.”

Though she never wed, Keaton is the mother to two adopted children, daughter Dexter, 18 and son Duke, 16.

Keaton did reveal in the interview that there was one man who had made her reconsider walking down the aisle – Al Pacino.

The pair were on-again, off-again dating during the 1980s, but never committed to a marriage:

“He was even less inclined to be realistic than me. And I was on the cusp of being very old. So that poor guy. I don’t think he was really that interested. And I don’t think a long-term happy marriage would be easy for him.”

The 68-year old looked reflectively on her past relationships, telling the magazine:

“Relationships are hard. You’re lucky if you find someone.”
