Love Island's Niall Aslam has released an emotional statement about living with Asperger's Syndrome.
The star, who left the
Love Island villa unexpected this season revealed shortly after leaving that it was due to his mental health. Revealing that he suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, the star wrote:
"I have suffered in silence and not acknowledged a massive fact about my life which going into the villa has led me to finally realise and accept. When I was a young child I was diagnosed with asperges syndrome, a fact that until this post has never shared outside of my close family."
And now, two months later, the star has revealed that he's trying hard to get back on track however, he isn't finding it easy. Explaining that he's been taking medication to cure his anxiety as a "short term fix", Niall revealed that his health has left him unable to appear on TV or to connect properly with his fans. He revealed:
"I have been taking medication as a short term fix but I am taking less every week and im battling to restore my self to the confident lad I was. I would not have been able to come so far if it wasnt for the love and support of the public your messages of support have been helping me through."
Ending his post, the 23-year-old noted that he hopes to get back out there and thanked fans for their endless support.
"Keep your eyes peeled as I’m sure you’ll see me very soon. Always remember .... lay it on thick, be yourself and be confident to talk about mental health" he wrote.
Niall was inundated with comments of love from fans who thanked him for always being so "real" and "true" with them.
