Jennifer Lopez has been accused of faking her split from boyfriend Casper Smart in a bid to promote her movie The Boy Next Door.
The couple separated eight months ago but were seen kissing on the set of American Idol earlier this week, sparking rumours that they had rekindled their romance.
However, TMZ is now claiming that the pair never broke up in the first place and orchestrated a split to build hype around Lopez’s latest movie release.
It is alleged that Lopez announced the separation in order to fuel rumours she was dating her The Boy Next Door co-star Ryan Guzman, with choreographer Smart also benefiting from the arrangement as he was shooting UFC fighting movie Street.
TMZ has said the couple were photographed together in Smart’s car in LA shortly after their reported split, with the 27-year-old also spotted at her Los Angeles home in January and at a local restaurant with her a month later.
On Monday, Smart denied that the couple are back together, saying they are “very good friends”, while Lopez has yet to comment on the claims.
