Laura Whitmore recalls being asked about “side boob” on first Late Late Show appearance

"I've got this really cool job, I'm working my ass off and that is the first question?"

TV presenter Laura Whitmore has spoken about an awkward incident during her appearance on the Late Late Show in Ireland. Laura talked to Hot Press about how she was excited to appear on a staple of Irish television in 2013. However, that joy faded when she was asked an uncomfortable question. "I love the Late Late, it's iconic," she said. "They really bring the country together with things like the Toy Show." She continued: "But when I was on it for the first time as a guest I got asked about pictures of me at the Brit Awards." The Late, Late Show host Ryan Tubridy then told Laura that she was photographed "showing side-boob". She said: "I've got this really cool job, I'm working my ass off and that is the first question?" Laura also recalled how she was asked about a photograph of Niall Horan at her house. "Why is that the narrative?" she asked. The Love Island host said that she just ignored her rising frustration, adding that this line of questioning is the norm for women in show business. "I'm very aware that at the time I just shrugged it off, but this is the type of question you get as a female in the industry." Laura then described how the paparazzi parked outside her London home and refused to leave. She added that the press continue to hound her in her personal life. "If I'm at an event or walking the red carpet, fine," she said. "But this is me going to the corner shop, putting the bins out and going for a walk while pregnant in lockdown." She then called for clear boundaries to be drawn. "It's an invasion of privacy," she said. "The law has to be changed." Laura is currently expecting her first child with her husband Iain Stirling.
