Carol McGee asked the Love Island account to confirm where Andrew was on March 12, and insisted that he was the perpetrator.

As Andrew awaits to go into the villa, his own accounts are being run by his family and they addressed the speculations on his behalf.

Joking about the meme, they wrote: "In all seriousness though, we can confirm that Andrew was in Dubai on 12th March when Carol’s daughter’s bag was stolen – we hope you find the perpetrator soon Carol.”

Carol originally wrote below the post: "He looks like the man who stole my daughter's handbag in Sainsburys."

Raking in thousands of likes, it wasn't long before the tweet was all over social media.

Speaking about why he initially wanted to go onto Love Island, Andrew said: "Because I’m actually single for once, so I thought why not? This is the best time to give it a go.”
