The meaning behind Brian Dowling’s baby girl’s name

Brian Dowling and Arthur announced the birth of their daughter this week

The dads decided to call their little girl Blu Amar Rose. The name Blu is often associated with the sea and the sky. The gender-neutral moniker is a modern option for parents, but the meaning behind her middle names have won us over.

The name Amar means 'eternal' and the name Rose means 'hope'.

Brian and Arthur announced the news on Instagram this week. They shared photos taken in the hospital to confirm the news and the look on their faces says it all.

Alongside the photo, Brian wrote:

"Please be upstanding for the arrival of our BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, Blu Amar Rose Dowling Gourounlian.

"Blu was delivered safely on Sunday, June 23rd, at 13:33h, weighing 6lb 2ozs.

"Myself & Papa Gourounlian can’t believe we now have two little beauties to keep us on our toes."

Their daughter was born via surrogacy with Brian's sister Aoife acting as the surrogate.

He praised his sister for helping their dreams come true by being their surrogate.

"You are a SUPERSTAR & we are, as always, FOREVER GRATEFUL," he gushed.

The TV presenter praised his sister for remaining so calm when their birth plan didn't work out as they hoped.

"Baby Blu was adamant to arrive on Sunday, the 23rd of June & nothing or no one was going to stop her."

Brian and Arthur are already parents to a daughter named Blake.

Brian also said he could not wait for Blake to be a big sister.
