Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are asking people to stop buying them baby gifts and you’ll understand why.
If you’re familiar with the comings and goings of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, you’ll know that they’re expecting their first child very soon.
At a public appearance in Birmingham a few months ago, Meghan Markle reportedly said that her due date was in “late April/early May” so there isn’t too long left until the royal baby makes an appearance.
Exciting times for the couple, who will be one year married on 19 May.
Unsurprisingly, they have been inundated with gifts from royal fans and now, they’ve asked people to stop sending presents.
Instead of presents, which so far have included cuddly toys and cute clothes, they would like if well-wishers considered making a donation to any of the four charities they have chosen.
The Sussex Royal Instagram account was only announced at the beginning of the week and already it’s getting a huge amount of attention with the most recent post going live last night.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have thanked people for their thoughtfulness and asked them to keep the four charities in mind.
An excerpt from the statement reads:
“In lieu of sending gifts, the couple have long planned to encourage members of the public to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need. If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks. If you are thinking about it, they ask that you kindly consider the following organisations they’ve selected, which we will highlight here over the next few days”.
