“Don’t be afraid to take that step in speaking to someone, whether it’s big or small.”

Love Island star Millie Court has been praised by fans for being open and honest about her experience with therapy following her breakup from Liam Reardon.

The pair were crowned the winners of the 2021 season, but broke up about a year later.

Now, Millie has shared that she sought the support of therapy to help her after the split.

Taking to Instagram, she said that she had her first session before Christmas and felt that it “opened up so much” for her.

Embracing the new year, she said that she will be “solely focusing” on her career, and that she is looking forward to treating her mind and body in the way it “deserves”.

After receiving many responses about her decision to start therapy, Millie encouraged her fans to seek it for themselves if they need it.

She wrote: “Don’t be afraid to take that step in speaking to someone, whether it’s big or small (…) I’m not the type to open up and speak about how I’m feeling and I don’t like to burden people with my problems either (friends and family) so of course I didn’t feel that comfortable talking to her at first but after just one session I honestly felt so much better so I’m really looking forward to the next.”

Millie regularly uses her Instagram platform to speak about mental health, and to call out unkind comments.

Last month, she addressed some “hurtful” comments she received after posting a bikini photo on Instagram. In a YouTube video, Millie explained that trolls targeted that photo with abuse, and reminded them that she can see everything they write.

She told her followers: “I was going through my comments on Instagram, and some of you may not think that I do see what you write but I do (….) It is quite hurtful when I read comments like that and maybe I don’t have as thick a skin as maybe I should. But I’ve never been prepared for being in the life that I am, and I’m very very grateful for it, but some people aren’t as thick skinned as others, me being one of them and it’s not nice.”
