Phoebe Dynevor hints that she won’t be in the next season of Bridgerton

“I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.”

Actress Phoebe Dynevor has hinted that she won’t be appearing in the upcoming season of Bridgerton.

Phoebe, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, had a principal role in the first season, as her character was launched onto the Regency London social scene. She struck up an initially hesitant courtship with Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), before marrying and starting a family with him.

In season two, Dynevor played a less prominent role, as the focus of the series shifted to explore the love life of her brother, Anthony Bridgerton. Page had left the season entirely, and now, it looks like Dynevor might follow suit.

Speculation that she may not be returning mounted at the Sundance Film Festival when she was asked by ScreenRant if we’ll see any “exciting dynamics” for her character in season three, and to this, she responded “sadly not”.

She didn’t rule out her return to the show entirely, as she added, “potentially in the future”.

Phoebe then appeared to confirm that she would not be in the upcoming season, or that her part will be significantly reduced.

“But season three, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer,” she said.

If it’s true that Phoebe won’t feature in season three, it’s not entirely surprising, as the actress is looking at a very busy schedule ahead.

Her upcoming projects include a thriller film, I Heart Murder, and she is producing and acting in a film adaption of Jonathan Stroud’s novel The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne. She is also set to play the main character, Ava, in the television adaption of Irish writer Naoise Dolan’s novel Exciting Times. In the series, which will be made available through Amazon Prime, Phoebe will play a TEFL teacher in Hong Kong, who finds herself in a relationship with an English banker and a Hong Kongese lawyer.
