“Real-life consequences”: Strictly’s Adam Peaty addresses near-kiss rumours

“Your comments have real-life consequences.”

Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Peaty has responded to those ‘near-kiss’ rumours after his performance this weekend.

The Olympian caused quite a stir when he reportedly leaned in to kiss pro-dancer Katya Jones after their Argentine Tango.

The couple performed to Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night on Saturday, but fans were left stunned after the Olympian ‘leaned-in to kiss his pro-dancer’ at the end of their routine.

The dad has been in a relationship with Eirianedd Munro since the beginning of 2020. The couple welcomed their son George in September 2020.

The Olympic swimmer stressed that he did not attempt to kiss pro-dancer Jones.

He said people need to be aware of how harmful rumours about the Strictly curse can be.

Peaty and Jones were voted through in last night’s result show.

Following the results, he posted on Instagram and slammed accusations he was cheating on his partner.

“We go again, thank you so much for all your support! Such a relief!”

He continued: “To everyone who sees what they want to see, your comments have real-life consequences. I will not be lowered or overcome by your gossip. Protect your energy.”

The dad confirmed he spent time with his son George today.

Fellow Strictly stars and fans supported the swimmer in the comments section. John Whaite wrote, “You’re amazing love. You inspire so many so forget the noise.”

“Hope you and your beautiful family can see through these small-minded short-sighted rumours… keep the focus – ignore the haters,” one fan shared.

“Could feel the intensity and passion just watching it! Best dance of the series for me so far, way underscored by the judges,” another fan wrote.

Jones praised her dance partner for working so hard on their routine this week.

She shared, “Every week is a new challenge and we will carry on pushing ourselves as long as you let us. Argentine tango week was a real breakthrough for Adam.”
