He might have played Harry Potter’s cousin Dudley Dursley in JK Rowling’s much-loved film adaptations, but you might not recognise the star today.
Harry Melling starred as the spoilt cousin in the Harry Potter franchise, but eight years after the last film hit our screens, the 30-year old has drastically changed in appearance.
The actor appeared in the latest episode of His Dark Materials and played the character Mr. Sysselman Trollesund. There’s a picture of him below:
“Yes, I heard a rumour too. Of an aeronaut who creates bedlam wherever he goes. Any truth to that?” Surely not… Find out in 30 minutes on @BBCOne. #HisDarkMaterials pic.twitter.com/2j05Whxvtm

It was only after a while into the programme that viewers began to notice that Trollesund looked very familiar. Of course, when everyone copped on, they took to Twitter:
IS THAT DUDLEY DURSELY I SPY?

When you realise it’s Dudley Dursley all grown up, starring in both #HisDarkMaterials and #TheWarOfTheWorlds on @BBCOne pic.twitter.com/If3FfZknPn

Ah ! I spend the whole time watching the latest episode of #HisDarkMaterials wondering why the guy in charge of keeping #IorekByrnison‘s armour looked so familiar and I finally found out that he is in fact portrayed by Harry Melling, a.k.a. Dudley Dursley from Harry Potter ?

Yep, nobody could quite believe it!
It has been a while since we’ve seen Harry on our screens which is probably why everyone was so shocked.
Since Harry Potter, Melling has mainly dedicated his time to stage performances, however, in 2018 he played alongside Liam Neeson in the Coen brothers’ Western The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
