‘I’m too old for this’

Selena Gomez has revealed that she is taking a break from social media after taking over from Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram.

The singer and former Disney star, who overtook Jenner by racking up 382 million followers, explained to fans, “I’m too old for this.”

During a live TikTok video The Only Murders In The Building actor explained that she would take a quick app cleanse.

“I’m going to be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly,” she said.

“I’m 30 and am too old for this. But I love you so much and I’ll see you guys sooner than later.

“I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”

Her comments come after many began to speculate if there was bad blood between herself and Hailey Bieber after a video resurfaced on TikTok.

The video shows Bieber presenting on stage alongside Method Man who teases a “one-on-one rap battle full of the meanest lyrics about a celebrity since Taylor Swift’s last album”, to which the model sticks out her tongue and rolls her eyes.

According to the video’s caption, the user wanted to expose Hailey as a “mean girl”.

Gomez, a longtime Swift friend, responded to the video in the comment section, writing: “So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game.”

The performer has mentioned quitting social media before, with most of her accounts under the control of her assistants.

She told Vanity Fair earlier this month: “The only thing I have on my phone is TikTok because I find it to be a little less hostile. There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories.

“But usually that’s filtered through [for me now]. I created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. “As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging.”

Since her announcement, her TikTok account has now been deactivated and can no longer be found.
