Carrie Bradshaw had an on-and-off relationship with furniture maker Aidan, played by John Corbett, while she always carried a torch for Mr. Big.
The tycoon, played by Chris Noth, eventually wooed the newspaper columnist after traveling to Paris to win her back.The two of them went on to marry in the first Sex and the City film.
However, that hasn’t stopped fans from ‘shipping Aidan and Carrie – particularly after they shared a kiss in the second Sex and the City film.
And now, Sarah Jessica Parker – who played Carrie – has weighed in on the debate once and for all: is she Team Aidan or Team Mr. Big?
The actress spoke to The Bradshaw Boys podcast [via Entertainment Tonight] about Carrie’s two love interests – joking that it put her in a “terrible position” when asked to pick between them.
“There is a very quick and simple answer. You have to be Team Big or Team John (Big’s real name). I guess, only because you can’t tell a story that long and not in the most conventional way kind of root for that ending,” she said.
“And I love Chris Noth so much, and it felt wonderfully and skillfully written by Michael Patrick [King].”
However, she noted that she loves “John Corbett so much and I loved Aidan. I loved his Aidan.”
“The best of both worlds is in fact having your cake and eating it too. So I feel like I got both teams,” she continued. “Ultimately, Carrie should have ended up with Big, but it was a delight to mess around before she arrived at that.”
