Aiken Promotions will appear in the Dáil to discuss the events leading up to this week’s shock cancellation of all of Garth Brooks’ Croke Park dates.

The event was abandoned after Dublin City Council chose to only grant a license for three of the promised five dates, in the face of vehement opposition to the concerts by local residents. Over 400,000 fans had bought tickets for the gigs and An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has since said that the debacle “seems to have been handled badly all round”.

In a statement this afternoon, Aiken Promotions confirmed that they had received and accepted an invitation from the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications and were currently awaiting confirmation of the date.

The promoter has maintained that it had worked with Dublin City Council throughout the planning process for the event and the licensing decision “came as a complete shock”.
