This Iconic Actress Was Originally Set To Star In Breakfast At Tiffany’s

She stole our hearts as Holly Golightly, with the role earning her a place in Hollywood fame, but it seems Audrey Hepburn wasn’t the original choice for the movie.

While she perfectly captures the role, and has since become a style icon in her own right, it was blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe who was first hand-picked for the part.

According to Mental Floss, Truman Capote wanted Marilyn Monroe to star in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but it was Monroe’s advisor and acting coach, Paul Strasberg who said no.

Apparently, Strasberg advised Marilyn that playing a “lady of the evening” would be damaging to her reputation.

Capote later said Paramount Pictures “double-crossed me in every way” when they cast Audrey Hepburn instead.

Capote was so outraged by the film choice that he later declare it the “most miscast film I’ve ever seen.”

We’re sure that would have been more hurtful to Audrey, if she wasn’t busy being a Hollywood starlet.
