Boyband star and presenter Matt Willis is set to join the cast of EastEnders.
Willis, who’s performing with newly formed McBusted in the new year is to take on a role in the soap as “Luke”, the boyfriend of Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner).
"I've always loved Matt and it will be a real treat for viewers to watch him and Lacey together on screen as part of her return to the Square” said EastEnders' executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins.
“Luke gives as good as he gets, so is a great foil to Stacey. Pity she's been lying to him since the day she met him…"
Commenting on the role, Willis exclaimed that he was “thrilled” to be part of the cast on such “an iconic show”.
“I grew up watching EastEnders so this is really exciting for me!" he said.
The news of his casting follows the recent announcement that Lacey Turner would be returning to the popular soap – three years after her initial departure from the show.
Willis is filming for the show this week and bosses have said that he will be in the programme for a “short stint”. Will you be tuning in?
