A toxicology report has confirmed that no alcohol or illegal substances were found in Robin Williams’ system at the time of his death.

The Academy Award winner was found dead at his home in California on August 11th after taking his own life.

Yesterday, a Marin County coroner’s report revealed that the legendary actor had died from asphyxia as a result of hanging.

The report stated that the only drugs in Williams’ system were prescribed medication, which he had been taking in “therapeutic concentrations”.

Wife Susan Schneider released a personal statement shortly after Williams’ death addressing rumours surrounding the 63-year-old’s sobriety and mental state.

“Since his passing, all of us who loved Robin have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the millions of people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, particularly to those fighting personal battles.

“Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly.”
