TV Star Shannen Doherty Speaks Out About Her Battle With Breast Cancer

Actress Shannen Doherty has revealed she is fighting breast cancer. The star, well known for her role in TV series Charmed, released a statement this week where she thanked those close to her for their ongoing support. Speaking to PEOPLE, Shannen said: "Yes, I have breast cancer, and I am currently undergoing treatment. "I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life. "I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me". TMZ has reported that the 44-year-old is suing her former management company for the lapse of her health insurance. Shannen was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in March and documents obtained by the website claim that early diagnosis may have prevented the cancer from spreading. A statement released by the firm reads: "Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery. "However, the claim that Tanner Mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care, or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false".
