“There are people in the family that are definitely musical. One of my cousins is Jesy Nelson from Little Mix.”

The Voice UK is in its fourth round of blind auditions, with the judges still adding singers to their teams for the season ahead.

Olly Murs, Tom Jones, Ann Marie and will.I.am are ready for all that’s in store this year and have already started to add some stellar singers to their teams.

One contestant who took to the stage over the weekend is former Little Mix star, Jesy Nelson’s cousin.

Jamie Leigh Nelson revealed her connection to Jesy telling the show: “My mum and dad aren’t really musical so I don’t know really where it comes from. There are people in the family that are definitely musical. One of my cousins is Jesy Nelson from Little Mix.”

James Leigh was inspired by her cousin’s journey to apply for The Voice UK. “I just see her work so hard. She really, really wanted it and she went out there and she got it. And it just made me think, do you know what, if she can do it, then I can do it. And they have done so, so well, so, I’m proud of her.”

The 34 year old singer chose N-Trance’s ‘Set You Free’ as her song for her big moment infant of the judges.

“The song I’m singing definitely will take some of the viewers back and there are some big notes in the song. So, obviously, it’s always a worry hitting them notes. I’m going to go out on that stage and give it everything that I’ve got.”

Unfortunately it wasn’t Jamie’s night and none of the judges turned their chairs around for her throwback song but she was proud of herself even though she didn’t get the result she was looking for.

Jesy left Little Mix at the end of last year after nine years with the group. She stepped away from the band to focus on her mental health.
