The first details about the Veronica Mars revival are here and we can’t wait

Good news, Marshmallows.

The rumoured Veronica Mars reboot is one step closer to reality – okay, well several steps.

The cult favourite series aired for three season from 2004 to 2007 on UPN, before it moved to the CW.

And while there’s been plenty of rumours about a possible revival/reboot, there was nothing too solid until now.

Last month, it was reported that Hulu was keen to bring back Kristen Bell’s detective for another series – with the actress back in the title role (of course).

And while we haven’t heard much about the speculative series until now, it’s beginning to look like it’s getting closer and closer to happening.

According to TV Linethe eight-episode TV mini-series will kick off production late next month and continue through to March.

Producers  Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Dan Etheridge are also said to be joining Rob Thomas on the project.

As for what it’s going to be about?

It looks there’s going to be a serial killer terrorising Neptune – and that the investigation is going to leave Veronica and her dad, Keith, caught in the crosshairs of the kind-of-new town sheriff.

Casting is already underway, according to the publication, for an African-American actress in her 50s to play the role of the town’s highest ranking law enforcement officer.

While nothing official has been announced, this would be a fantastic idea for a season – so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Last year, Bell hinted that she was keen to bring back the show for a mini-series during a FacebookLive chat with her former co-star, Ryan Hansen.

The Good Place actress said:

“We are willing to put the effort in.

“I mean, if I have to do it as Murder She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”

She added that she’s “sort of in constant contact” with the show’s creator Rob Thomas about when they can do it again.

She added:

“There’s a lot of willingness and commitment to doing it again.

“Rob and I email about it every couple of months or so.

“And personally I think, and I think Rob probably agrees, is that a) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again and b) the format works better as an episodic [series].”
