This would be heartbreaking.
Grey’s Anatomy is well known for it’s heart-wrenching, devastating finales that basically all but guarantee fans will be saying farewell to at least one character.
At this point, fans of the long-running medical drama are well aware that Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew – who play Dr Arizona Robbins and Dr April Kepner – are exiting the show at the end of this season.
Details of both of their exits have been kept relatively under wraps, but fans were definitely concerned.
After all, it’s verrrrry unlikely that both Arizona and April will be sailing/driving/flying off into the sunset, getting their happily ever after.
But the synopsis for the penultimate episode may have dropped a few clues as to how they will be leaving the show.
This story contains potential spoilers for the rest of Grey’s Anatomy season 14.
Based off the synopsis, it looks like the second-to-last episode of the season could hold a clue to both their exits.
The episode, called Cold As Ice, is described as:
“One of Grey Sloan Memorial’s own is seriously injured, making the team reflect on what is truly important to them.
“Meanwhile, Nicole Herman pays a visit to Grey Sloan and talks to Arizona about an exciting opportunity.”
So, it’s most likely a new job on the horizon for Arizona (maybe in New York, so her daughter Sophia can be with her friends and her mum again?). Or maybe somewhere in Italy, so she can be with Carina?
That’s what we’re hoping for, anyways.
It’d be a bit over the top if Grey’s had anything else too dramatic in store for Arizona. Like..with the plane crash, car accident and the part where she almost had cancer, hasn’t she been through enough?
But it’s the “seriously injured” part that we’re a bit worried about.
It’s fairly safe to say that it won’t be Arizona that gets injured (how can she be spending the episode with Dr Herman and be badly hurt?).
Since there’s no other big departures scheduled for this season, or even any who are unsure about whether they’re going to return, it’s not looking too good for April.
April’s had a bit of a tough go this season, with her unraveling and losing her faith following the death of Matthew’s wife.
And while she seems to have found her faith once again, her untimely death would have a wide-reaching ripple effect through Grey Sloan.
Plus, it would lead to a huge storyline for Jackson as he comes to terms with begin a single parent – and juggling his relationship with Maggie.
So, basically, it’s still not looking too good for April.
Fans will end up waiting awhile, though, to find out the truth.
The episode is slated to air on May 10, 2018 in North America – and it will be hitting screens at a later date in Ireland.
