It’s celebrating its 20th birthday this week (how old do we feel right now) and yet Clueless is still one of our favourite films ever.
From fantastic quotes to an amazing wardrobe, Clueless taught us a lot of life lessons over the years.
Here are some of our favourites…

Beware of the freeway
If we ever have to drive in LA we will be avoiding the freeway after that famous scene… terrifying.
Teenage boys are nasty
Cher teaches us some life lessons about teenage boys and their lack of dress sense and humour.
Get cooking
You should always have something cooking in the oven if you want to entice a boy into your house… just make sure not to let it burn.
Tennis can hurt
If you’ve just had plastic surgery like Amber, you don’t want to have balls flying at your nose.
This is also possibly one of the best quotes of the movie.
Kissing games are great!
A game that became a firm favourite for Irish teens after the release of the movie.
We will never be that cool
We think women of the world let out a collective sigh of jealousy at Cher’s wardrobe.
Driving is not as easy as it looks
Cher taught us all that driving is not as easy as it looks, especially if you’re wearing platforms.
Whatever!
Clueless of course gave us the best thing ever – the ‘Whatever’ hand sign.
Girls can be mean
You give them a makeover, you help them sort their lives out and this is how they repay you…
And speaking of which…
If we hadn’t been interested in makeovers before, we certainly were after Clueless came out. Every sleepover now had an even more extreme makeover then before… cue lots of red hair dye jobs.
Shopping heaven
Shopping cures everything in the world of Clueless… and we love it!
It pays to wait
Cher was waiting for Luke Perry, and that was one of the key lessons she taught us all – it pays to wait!
Rollin’ with my homies
Who could forget that dance? Or the song that stuck in your head forever after?
Monet madness
The way we described things that were ‘a big old mess’ for a good few months.
All in the name of fashion
Sometimes, watches genuinely don’t match your outfit…
Body language
Cher was adept at reading body language… we learned a few lessons from this!
Stand up for yourself
Cher was ‘totally buggin’ when she was asked to stand up and do debating in class, but she was pretty good at it!
Be cool
When you fancy a lad, Cher taught us it is definitely the time that the most embarrassing things will happen to you.
Sigh. We learned this the hard way too.
See ya
The quickest (and of course, coolest) way to say goodbye in the late 90s.
And sometimes it’s under your nose…
Cher falling for Josh was the highlight of the movie and just goes to show you that sometimes the somewhat nerdy, Radiohead loving, environmental lad who has been under your nose all along is in fact the love of your life.
Special mention
We also had a lot of grá for this cutie!
