Here’s why Chloe Grace Moretz dropped out of Little Mermaid live-action remake

"It’s not particularly time off.."

We can understand why.

At the moment it seems like Disney is making just about every cartoon film they ever made into a live-action version. And while we are excited for a lot of them, the news of the Little Mermaid remake was one of the most exciting.

This summer, when it was announced, Chloe Grace Moretz was cast to play the iconic role of mermaid Ariel.

And while some we slightly sceptical of the casting, most people were very excited, including Chloe Grace who even shared a picture of herself in Mermaid form to Facebook this summer.

But now it seems that Chloe will no longer play Ariel as she told Hollywood Reporter that she pulled out of the role.

She said she pulled out of all upcoming productions mostly because she just wants a break.

“I pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again,”

“I’m realising that I can slow down.” She said.

Speaking to E News she said that while she’s not stopping acting altogether, she does wan’t to take her time choosing jobs considering she is so young.

“It’s not particularly time off. I’m just becoming more picky and particular about what roles I’m choosing.

I think as an actor you have a huge opportunity to find yourself through the roles that you choose.

I think it’s my time, right now in my life, to figure out who I am and what I am and what I want and what this industry means.

We now have all these amazing streaming services.

Why not sit back, slow down, realize I’m 19 and go, “Hey, let’s make stuff that really, really hits hard with who I am and helps me figure out what it means to be a 19-year-old actor who is just doing her thing.”

We’re intrigued to see what she’ll do next, maybe we’ll see her on a new Netflix show in the near future!
