Sex and the City was not a show for the faint of heart.
Part of the reason it was so popular was because it broke away from the popular romantic comedy narrative, and got down and dirty.
The girls broached topics that were still relatively untouched on mainstream TV in a fearless and frank way, and understandably, raunchy sex scenes were all a part of the gig.
However, although she was the series’ leading lady, fans may have noticed that the one character who never bared all was Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
That’s because the actress had a “no nudity clause”.
She revealed:
“I was not comfortable with nude scenes, scenes with sex toys, or vulgar language – so I didn’t do any. My character Carrie, kissed a lot of men – but that’s as far as it went.”
So the lady was always fully clothed, and with good reason, as she still owns 70 per cent of Carrie’s wardrobe.
Spotted on Cosmopolitan, she said:
“I’ve kept everything that didn’t come directly from a designer or wasn’t rented. Yes, I have it in archive. I have literally everything!”
She needs to send some to us. We’re poor.
