A huge ’90s heartthrob has signed up to star on Grey’s Anatomy

Keeley Ryan

Could he be the next McDreamy?

A possible new heartthrob will be joining Grey’s Anatomy season.

He will be joining the Shondaland series after fans said farewell to cardiothoracic surgeon Nathan Riggs, played by Martin Henderson, earlier this season.

Riggs was brought in shortly after Patrick Dempsey (aka: Dr Derek Shepherd, or McDreamy) bowed out of the series. He went on to feature for a little more than two seasons.

But now, according to The Hollywood ReporterFelicity star Scott Speedman will be checking in to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital later this season.

His character is said to only be appearing in one season 14 episode – for now – with most of the details being kept under wraps.

Speedman’s guest spot on Grey’s isn’t expected to interfere with the future of his character on the American version of Animal Kingdom, where his character was left seemingly taking his last breaths.

He’s not the first Felicity star to join the series, either.

Scott Foley starred in the long running medical drama as Henry Burton, Dr Teddy Altman’s husband.

The news comes amid a series of casting news about Grey’s 14th season.

Dr Teddy Altman will be returning for a “batch” of episodes after a three-episode arc at the start of the season, while April’s former fiancé Matthew will also be appearing at Grey Sloan.

Meanwhile, Dr Ben Warren will be hanging up his scrubs to join the series’ fire fighter spin-offStation 19.
