Lucie’s mum says she’s not worried about Joe’s behaviour on Love Island

Lucie Dolan’s mum says she has “no worries” about her daughter.

There has been a lot of concern about Lucie on this year’s Love Island.

Since the beginning she has been coupled up with Joe Garratt and he has become increasingly possessive of Lucie. That came to a head during one episode of the show when he criticised her friendship with Tommy Fury.

He said that he found it strange that Lucie is friends with him and encouraged her to hang around with the girls more instead of accepting that she’s permitted to speak to whomever she likes.

However, now her mam has spoken to MailOnline, saying that she thinks Lucie is fine on the show.

She said:

“Lucie should stay on the show. We’ve got no worries over her what so ever, she’s very happy. The support given to her and us as a family by ITV has been amazing.”

TV watchdog Ofcom has so far received 302 complaints about the treatment of Lucie on Love Island.

Last night, Women’s Aid made a statement about Joe’s treatment. Adina Claire, Co-Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said:

“Controlling behaviour is never acceptable, and with Love Island viewers complaining to Ofcom in record numbers about Joe’s possessive behaviour towards Lucie, more people are becoming aware of this and want to challenge it.

“Abusive relationships often start off with subtle signs of control, so it’s important that it is recognised at an early stage. Love Island viewers are now very vocal in calling out unhealthy behaviour between couples on the show, and this is a positive development”.
