The nation entered an extended period of mourning when the most recent series of Love/Hate came to an end but the show could be returning to your screens very soon... just not in the way you might expect.
A crowdfunding initiative has been set up to raise €50,000 towards the creation of a Love/Hate video game, which would begin at the end of the last season and assumes that Nidge has survived the shooting outside his home.
"The game begins at the final episode. Nidge is found lying in a pool of blood as Patrick makes his getaway. The sound of sirens blares through the streets as the guards race to the scene. Found lying face down, Nidge and Siobhan are rushed to the nearest hospital," said Glenn McGarry, who launched the project.
"Overcome with rage and a hunger for revenge, Nidge plans out his next steps. His rise to return to the top is only beginning... and as Patrick and Fran race to finish the job off, Nidge isn't going down again without a fight."
McGarry said that he believes the game is something that "most people I'm sure would love to experience" and he would like to involve cast members including Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Nidge), Peter Coonan (Fran) and John Connors (Patrick).
"If funding is raised, I would like to get RTE and the entire cast involved in the project as these types of shows only come now and again. I would love to sit down with the cast and create a plot where cast members past and present could be involved. I think I speak for everyone when I say we miss a lot of characters."
