Our pets are better Netflix viewing partners… so move over bae

Olivia Hayes

We’re on board with this.

As great as it is to sit down with your partner and watch a TV series, we have to say that we do love cuddling up with our pets on the sofa to watch our favourite shows.

And it turns out we’re not alone as a new study from Netflix shows that our pets are our new TV partners.

Half of Irish people have admitted that they binge watch shows with their furry friends rather than their other halves or their mates and one in three of us have turned to them for comfort if a rather upsetting or scary scene is on the TV.

And when it comes to choice, it looks like a differs quite a bit between cats and dogs.

Dogs like to sit and watch the likes of Narcos, while cats prefer TV shows such a Black Mirror.

But it’s not all fun and games, and can even sometimes be harder than watching a show with bae.

44 percent of us admitted that we will move our position to make our animals more comfortable, and 17 percent of us have bribed our pets to make them stay and watch a show for longer.

13 percent of us have even turned off a show if our pet didn’t like it.

So, it turns out that sitting down with your pet can be just as challenging as sitting down with a partner…
