Noooo! Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo hints the series will end VERY soon

It’s hard to imagine a time without Grey’s Anatomy.

The medical drama has been on for 14 – soon to be 15 – seasons, with the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial facing just about every challenge imaginable.

And, in some cases, the kind of situations we never would have dreamed of.

While we know that all good things must come to an end, that doesn’t mean we were actually ready for Ellen Pompeo’s latest news.

The 48-year-old, who plays Meredith Grey, recently admitted that the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial may be scrubbing in for only one more year.

The actress recently joined her castmates for the the #7DaysofGreys – a celebration of all things Grey’s Anatomy – with Entertainment Weekly

She was asked about the future of the show beyond 2020 – which is when her contract expires – and..well, it didn’t sound like much good news.

She told Entertainment Weekly

“I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell.

“It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, who handed off showrunning duties to EP Krista Vernoff before season 14, also said that she will be returning to the show for the final episode – although she’s not quite sure how it will end.

She said:

“I have written the end of the show at least six times.

“But we just don’t end. Every time I thought,’‘This is how the show should end,’ we’ve gone past those moments, so I’ve stopped trying. I have no idea now.”
