One of the Love Actually actors competed in the Eurovision and we had no idea

love actually

It’s been 15 years since the movie was first released.

But it feels like every year, we learn something new about Love Actually.

To the fact that Bill Nighy didn’t even realise he had auditioned for the film the amount that Claudia Schiffer got paid for her brief cameo at the end, it’s always the more out-there facts that have blown our minds.

Which is why we were particularly stunned to find out Uncle Jaime’s girlfriend, Aurelia, once competed in the Eurovision.

Seven years before the movie hit the big screen, the actress – real name Lúcia Moniz – represented Portugal with a song called O Meu Coração Não Tem Cor, or My Heart Has No Colour.

She was one of the competitors in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Oslo.

And while Ireland’s entry was the one that ultimately won the coveted Eurovision trophy that year, Lúcia ended up doing quite well in the standings, placing sixth overall.

You can check out her performance below.

It comes as the second leg of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals is due to air tonight.

Participating in the second round of the competition is Norway, Romania, Serbia, San Marino, Denmark, Russia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Australia, Georgia, Poland, Malta, Hungary, Latvia, Sweden, Montenegro, Slovenia and Ukraine.
