Paige Thorne’s family forced to block trolls amid online abuse

Sarah McKenna Barry

“If you’re truly a supporter of Paige, you’ll support her no matter who she’s coupled up with.”

The family of Paige Thorne have had to limit social media users ability to interact with her Instagram after she received hateful comments.

In a statement on her Instagram story, the social media handlers wrote: “As some of you have already noticed, unless Paige follows you you’re now unable to comment/message/tag her in anything…

“This is only for a few days to ride the hate train, it’s not fair for Paige, myself or her family & friends to read so best block it out all together!”

They continued: “So proud of Paige for staying true to herself and it’s nice to see a smile on her face.

“P.s. if you’re truly a supporter of Paige, you’ll support her no matter who she’s coupled up with.”

The decision to limit interactions on Paige’s account comes just a few days after her family reminded viewers to be kind amid Jacques O’Neill’s departure from Love Island.

The pair had been coupled up for the majority of their time together in the villa, but Jacques left the reality show earlier this week.

As Paige was facing calls to leave the villa alongside Jacques, her family issued a reminder on social media to be kind.

They wrote: “Little note that #BeKind applies to Paige too.

“If she decides to leave the villa, that is her own decision, and she has no obligation to follow Jacques – this is her experience just as much as his.

“There is only 2.5 weeks left of her once-in-a-lifetime experience, let’s not see her come out to negativity.”

Since Jacques left the villa, Paige has been getting to know Adam Collard a bit better, and, during last night’s recoupling, Adam selected Paige.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and on the Virgin Media Player.
