Panti To Deliver Her Own Queen’s Speech This Christmas Day

Move over Lizzy, the real Queen is taking to TV.

Her

First she had a documentary named after her, and now the real Queen of Ireland is set to take to the Irish airwarves on Christmas Day.

TV3 has announced Panti Bliss is set to deliver her very own Queen’s Speech on the station this Christmas.

A highlight of the TV3 festive schedule, Panti will give a speech recalling some of the main moments in Irish history that have occurred over the past 12 months.

The speech marks an incredible remarkable achievement given that the first gay kiss to be featured on Irish TV was in Fair City in 1996.

The television network said “in an unprecedented Christmas first in Ireland, TV3 will be launching its very own ‘Queen of Ireland’s Christmas Message’ from Panti Bliss” which promises to be a poignant moment for viewers.

Reflecting on one of the most defining years in Irish history, Panti is expected to reference the marriage referendum, the gender recognition bill and the first Irish same-sex weddings to take place in the country.

Due to be broadcast after lunch, she will also share her vision for 2016.

Other highlights for the station’s Christmas programme include The Great Irish Bake-Off Christmas Special and A Tribute to Tony Fenton – All the Young Dudes, as well as a selection of Christmas films to watch while sinking into the sofa including A Christmas Carol, Santa Clause The Movie and Willie Wonka And The Chocolate Factory.’
