The Circle introduces a brutal new twist as the first player gets blocked

The Circle left viewers stunned last night after it delivered a nerve-wracking episode - with a brutal cliffhanger ending. The Black Mirror-esque TV show kicked off this week and there's already been plenty of drama. Mostly due to the fact that so many people aren't quite who they appear. Jennifer originally planned on pretending to be a cancer doctor to impress the other Circle members, while Genelle has decided to keep quiet about the fact that she has a baby girl. Freddie is keeping quiet about his sexuality and "playing it straight" instead, and Alex - the biggest catfish in the Circle so far - is pretending to be a young woman named Kate, using photos of his girlfriend. The rest of the contestants are mostly being themselves so far - just with some carefully curated photos. Wednesday night's episode raised the stakes for the players, with one person set to be blocked from the group - which meant they would be out of the competition. As Dan and Alex/Kate had been given the highest rankings by their housemates, they were awarded influencer status and, ultimately, the ones who had to choose who to block. It was a close call for Freddie, but the pair ultimately chose to block Jennifer. And then there was a twist - because, well, it wouldn't be reality tv without a few twists and turns, would it? As Jennifer was getting ready to leave her apartment when there was one last twist: she was going to be given a chance to meet one of the members of The Circle face-to-face. The rest of the players were warned that one of them would be getting a visit from Jennifer, as she tried to figure out who she'd like to meet in person the most. The person she was thinking of finally going to meet? Kate. Or, well, Alex.
