Man calls 911 reporting a plane crash while hallucinating on a sedative

He was probably mortified...

It’s reported the man took Ambien before hallucinating.

When taking medicine, we’re all advised to be extra careful.

We’re told that we’re not supposed to operate machinery, rest, don’t drink and just generally take it easy.

Sometimes, the inevitable happens and the side effects of prescription drugs come through leaving many of us red-faced if we act a little crazy.

One man in Washington in the US, unfortunately, suffered the side effects of his medication when he called 911 under a hallucination.

According to KOMONewsthe 75-year-old American took a sedative, an Ambien for pain relief and as the drug set in the man became panicked, dreaming that he was in a plane crash.

In a call to 911, the pensioner told the emergency services that the plane was headed to Oregon and that he was trapped with three other people.

After the incident, the man was too embarrassed to talk on TV but was shocked at the strong effects the Ambien had.

"Chattanooga, USA - January 11, 2013: Product shot of a sample blister pack of Ambien CR tablets. This prescription medication is used to treat symptoms insomnia."

A sleep expert, Dr. Gandis Mazeika spoke of the dangers of Ambien and it’s side effects.

“It must have seem really real to him for him to call 911. It must have been like a real hallucination for him and that does speak to some of the potency of Ambien.

“It can cause people to have this kind of disorientation if given inappropriately to a patient or if the dosage is too high.”
