Everyone’s saying the same thing about the first episode of Love Island

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Maya, you babe.

Love Island is officially back whether we like it or not and anyone who tuned in last night is saying the same thing – we’re obsessed with Maya Jama.

As the now 11 new islanders make the South African villa their home for the next eight weeks, there were a lot of mixed opinions but none of those were about the new host.

With an inundated amount of tweets from fans and former islanders, Maya was definitely an instant hit on the show, with many wondering why it took this long to have her on.

Maya made her debut after Laura Whitmore announced she would be standing down as host following a three-season stint, and it wasn’t long before Maya was announced as her replacement.

While us Irish fans missed seeing one of our own on the screen this year, there was something about Maya that had everyone’s hearts.

And famous faces thought the same, with Holly Carpenter saying: “Wow Maya Jama looks incredible. The show needed this boost of warmth & charisma. Love seeing her sitting down with the contestants and chatting so naturally like Caroline Flack used to.”

Former islander Indiyah Polack said: “MAYA??? Everyone is shaking !!!!”

And her Love Island co-star Ikenna Ekwonna said: “who gon stop me if I step forward for maya?”

Fans were also under the same impression, with one person saying: “Is Maya Jama allowed to win?”

Another said: “Just give maya jama the 50k now.”

While a third wrote: “No I am sorry they cannot be sending Maya in looking like THAT. Diabolical. Can you imagine spending all night trying to look fit and she comes in.”

Anda a fourth penned: “I’m not sure I’m ever going to be able to get over Maya. Every time she appears on the screen my jaw drops.”

Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
