Laura Whitmore responds to claim Remi was “humiliated” on After Sun

“Remi looks hurt and embarrassed this is actually so uncomfortable to watch…”

Laura Whitmore has responded to claims Remi Lambert was “humiliated” on Sunday night’s episode of Aftersun.

After his departure from the villa, the 22-year-old sat down to chat with the presenter.

Remi became the third contestant to leave after failing to be picked in the latest recoupling, which saw new girl Danica make a shocking move by choosing Luca.

Her decision meant Gemma was left to pick between Remi and Davide, and she chose to save the latter, meaning Remi had to pack his bags.

Later on Aftersun, Laura asked Remi to deliver an “exclusive rap”. Seemingly nervous, he obliged and did a freestyle rap, but could not finish.

Many viewers took to Twitter to criticise the interview.

“Hope #LoveIsland supports Remi. He looked broken on #Loveislandaftersun. Asking him to rap was done in bad faith and to humiliate. I thought @thewhitmore & crew were supposed to ‘BE KIND’,” one person said.

‘Nah Remi looks hurt and embarrassed this is actually so uncomfortable to watch…” another wrote

‘Why did they make Remi freestyle on live TV? As if the man hasn’t suffered enough!” a third added

However, Laura clarified the situation by saying that Remi had actually been asked to prepare a rap for his departure before the show began.

Responding to one Tweet, she wrote:

“Remi is a rapper and asked in good faith in advance if he’d rap and prepare something which he did.  Live Telly is nerve wrecking, believe me, so maybe he was a bit nervous but he deserved to have his time. Also I want to make Remi & Afia happen!”

Remi previously said he had come on the show to find a love like Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury.

“When I saw Molly [Mae Hague] and Tommy [Fury] and saw how strong they are together, I thought, ‘I want a love like that,'” he said, “I think I’m single by choice – I’m too picky. She needs to be 10/10 for everything.”

Unfortunately, his time in the villa was short-lived.
