“One day we will meet again, I hope.”

Dr Alex George has paid a tribute to his younger brother Llŷr, who passed away two years ago.

The former Love Island contestant and mental health advocate posted a picture of him with his brother on his Instagram page and said that he can’t believe that two years have passed.

“This is the last time I saw you, I wish this was all a nightmare and I’d wake up,” he wrote. “Sometimes the reality is worse than your nightmares.”

He continued: “The worst days are waking up and forgetting for a moment, because then I have to remember all over again. I hate those days.”

He finished the post with a touching message to his little brother.

“One day we will meet again, I hope,” he wrote. “I love you Llŷr, my boy.”

Alex announced that his brother had passed away in the summer of 2020. In a statement, he shared that he lost his brother due to mental health.

At the time, he wrote: “Yesterday I said goodbye to my little brother Llŷr. It was the hardest day of my life. Except it wasn’t goodbye. Llŷr, your dream was to become a doctor, you will live that dream. Every patient I see, we will do it together, you and I.”

Earlier this year, he revealed that he got a tattoo in his brother’s hand-writing on his wrist.

In a post on Instagram, Alex shared the new tattoo, which is on his wrist. It is his brother’s name accompanied by a single line image of a wave in the ocean.

He wrote: “Llŷr (…) ‘God of The Sea’. The most beautiful name, it means so much to have it done in his handwriting.

“We will never forget you my boy x.”

Since then, Alex has been using his platform to end the stigma surrounding mental health and encouraging others to seek help.
