Love Island’s Jay makes it clear he didn’t dump Chyna for Paige

Ellen Fitzpatrick

There we have it.

Last night’s Love Island was an eventful one, not only did we see the return of Adam Collard, but we saw one couple say goodbye to the villa.

Jay and Chyna were dumped from the villa after the public were asked to vote for their favourites, and their fellow islanders dumped them over Dami and Summer.

Jay had earlier ended his romantic relationship with Chyna and hoped the two could be friends, but it left many fans speculating what his true intentions were.

It was prior Casa Amor that we saw Jay making a move on Paige, hoping to steal her from Jacques but she ultimately decided to stay with her original choice.

Now, fans believe that the only reason he had ended things with Chyna was to get close to Paige after she and Jacques were going through a rocky patch following Casa Amor.

Since leaving the villa, Jay has cleared up a few things and is insisting that he definitely wasn’t after Paige for a second time.

He said: “Genuinely, no I didn’t. I ended things with Chyna just because I couldn’t fake it. I didn’t feel a romantic connection, so I had to just be honest. I’d rather be alone in there than pretend to be with someone.”

When asked why he was into Paige initially, Jay replied: “She’s a great looking girl with an amazing personality. I felt like I overlooked a potential connection there and I thought I should try it.”

And speaking about her relationship with Jaques, he added: “Jacques and I were good mates. Their relationship was their relationship. It was none of my business. Whatever Jacques did in Casa that’s for him and Paige to deal with.”
