Sydney Sweeney calls out “double standard” when it comes to women filming nude scenes

Sydney’s experience in Hollywood isn’t what she imagined.

Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney has spoken out about the “double standard” that exists when it comes to women filming nude scenes.

The actress who plays Cassie on the hit HBO show has said that many men have been involved in nude scenes without any backlash, going on to win Oscars while women are “degraded” by similar work.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, Sydney said she wants to ensure that the stigma around this is gone.

She said: “I’m so disconnected from it. When I get tagged in Cassie’s or Pippa from The Voyeurs’s nudes, it feels like me looking at their nudes, not Sydney’s nudes.”

Before starring in Euphoria, Sydney played Pippa in The Voyeur and explained that ahead of filming, she researched celebrities who had filmed nude to “make myself feel better”.

She continued: “There are hour-long compilations of world-famous male actors with nude scenes who win Oscars and get praised for that work.

“But the moment a woman does it, it degrades them… There’s such a double standard and I really hope I can have a little part in changing that.”

Sydney also founded her own production and post-production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, and spoke out about the lack of support she has gotten from older women in the industry.

She said that she’s still finding herself fighting in the industry and was told she “couldn’t get a credit I believed I deserved” and has her theories as to by.

Noting that many comments about this had come from other women, Sydney admitted she was surprised and says that while women in the industry put on a “charade” of supporting each other, she has “not felt that fully yet.”
