This is apparently why Love Island isn’t appearing on Netflix for Irish users

Uh oh.

We were delighted when we first heard that Love Island would be heading to Netflix.

While it wouldn’t be a refresher of what happened last season with Kem, Olivia, Marcel and Camila (as well as the other Islanders), it was still going to be a great catch-up ahead of the news season.

After all, there was still plenty of drama during the first few seasons.

The ITV2 dating show’s first and second seasons were originally scheduled to arrive on Netflix on May 1 – only…they never showed up.

Love Island

Fans began to take to social media with plenty of questions as to why they weren’t able to catch up on the summer series.

And it looks like there may be a pretty valid (but still unfortunate) reason for Love Island’s absence from the streaming service.

When asked by a social media user why Love Island hadn’t appeared yet, a spokesperson for Netflix UK & Ireland replied:

“We only have UK rights, unfortunately.”

So, that explains it, we guess.

But we’ve still got our fingers crossed that our favourite Islanders will be making an appearance on Netflix soon.

Meanwhile, there’s only a few weeks to go until the fourth season of Love Island begins.

Or, well, we think so anyways – there hasn’t been an official date set yet.

There’s been a few teasers for the series released, but not much other information has been given about what fans can expect.

For the last few years, Love Island has begun either in the first week of June or very late May, so it’s most likely going to be around then for the start of series 4.

Beyond that, it looks like we may still be waiting a while for a glimpse at this year’s cast – as well as the villa itself.
