Coronation Street actor reacts to rumours of romance between Ryan and Ali

"That's fabricated, I don't know who came up with that."

Coronation Street's Ryan Prescott has shut down rumours his character will have a romance with Ali Neeson. It had been speculated earlier this year that the long-running soap was sparking a romantic relationship between the kind-of brothers. But Prescott, who took over the role of Ryan Connor this year, said he didn't want to get fans' hopes up, adding that he "definitely" doesn't see a romance between them. He told OK! Online:

"That's fabricated, I don't know who came up with that.

"There is a lot to play with within the relationship and the dynamics between both, but it's definitely more of a sibling rivalry going on through to brotherly friendship, and it could go either way.

"They've both got room to get to know each other a lot more, and they've both got room to kind of get on each other's nerves a lot more.

"Just because there's a lot of things with storylines that we do delve into and I think, two guys in their late 20s that have always been interested in girls, it would just be a little far-fetched if something happened between them. "It's important as far as storylines go that we don't clutch at ideas."

Recent scenes have seen Ryan trying to blackmail Sarah Platt, telling her that he wants cash in return for his silence after a confrontation between them landed him in hospital. After worrying about what to do, Sarah decides that she isn't having any of it - and decides to stand up to Ryan.
