Netflix’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch has found itself another villain

Netflix’s reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch has found itself another villain.

The streaming service is taking on the task of remaking the beloved television show – but with a slight twist.

The remake is set to have a gritty, darker tone as it will be based on the horror comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Mad Men actress Kieran Shipka has already been confirmed to play Sabrina, and The Vampire Diaries’ Jaz Sinclair is set to co-star as her best friend Rosalind.

We’ve also gotten our first look at Sabrina’s wise-cracking cat, Salem and, more recently, who will be playing Aunt Hilda and Aunt Zelda.

And while the series has already cast one (kind-of) villain, it looks like they may have just found their Big Bad for the series.

Coupling’s Richard Coyle is the latest actor to sign on for the series, according to Deadline.

He will be playing a character named Father Blackwood, a high priest in the Church of the Night.

Father Blackwood is also the “ruthless and ambitious” leader of the Academy of the Unseen Arts, who has a terrifying dark agenda that will put him at odds with Sabrina.

He’s not the only conflict Sabrina will be running into in the still-untitled series.

Doctor Who’s Michelle Gomez recently signed up to the series to play Mary Wardell, Sabrina’s favourite teacher and mentor at Baxter High, who becomes a “cunning manipulator” when she is possessed by the Devil’s handmaiden Madam Satan.
