Jennifer Lopez and Jack Black were also honoured on the night with special awards.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards took place last night in Santa Monica, LA.

The fan-voted award show may not as big or iconic as it used to be (remember in 2000 when Sarah Jessica Parker had 15 outfit changes on the night?) but thousands tuned in for the ceremony nonetheless, which was hosted by High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens.

It was a big night for Tom Holland and partner Zendaya, who were both nominated for multiple awards for their individual performances as well as collective efforts in SpiderMan:No Way Home.

The third instalment in the superhero film franchise won the award for Best Movie and Tom took home the award for Best Performance in a Movie for his role as SpiderMan.

Meanwhile, the Zendaya-led drama Euphoria bagged the award for Best Show, and the star won Best Performance in a TV Show for her portrayal of drug-addicted teen Rue Bennett.

Euphoria was also a winner in the Best Fight Category, with the iconic and dramatic showdown between Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) stealing the limelight. As well as this, Cassie and Nate’s (Jacob Elordi) secret relationship throughout season two won the award for Best Hookup.

Jennifer Lopez was honoured for her work in the acting world over the years, wining the Generation Award.

Accepting her award, she said: “I want to thank all the people who gave me this life. I want to thank the people who gave me joy, and the ones who broke my heart.”

“The ones who were true, and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love, and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself, because that’s how I knew that I had to grow.”

Jack Black accepted a Comedic Genius Award, dressing as a panda to come on stage and do so.

“Comedy genius are you kidding, for what?” he said. “It’s ridiculous, I don’t deserve it but I will take it! Thank you, MTV.”

Clips from the actor’s films over the years were played for the audience, including one from School Of Rock in which he says that MTV killed rock n’ roll.

Eslewhere, Scarlett Johansson won Best Hero for her role as Black Widow, and Daniel Radcliffe was named Best Villian for The Lost City.

Paris Hilton took home the best reality return for Cooking with Paris and Paris in Love and thanked her family, fans and “little Hiltons”.

“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world getting to share my life and all different sides of myself with you over the years,” she said in her acceptance speech.

Several other reality shows took home awards too, including Ru Paul’s Drag Race, which won Best Competition Series, and Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause who was named Best Reality Star.
